When To Add A Trellis Net

A trellis doesn’t just keep plants from falling over. It’s also a support structure that allows plants to develop vertically, or even laterally, in a way their stems would not otherwise support.

The best time to add a trellis net is right before your plants are flipped to the flowering stage. This will allow you to reposition and manipulate them much more easily before they go through another growth spurt. The idea is to bend and weave their shoots through the gaps in the trellis.

When is it too late to trellis? Well, it's never technically too late, but trellising later in the flowering stage can become a difficult task because the plants are larger, have more rigid stems and begin to form fragile flowers that you want to avoid damaging. This would be done to provide emergency support as opposed to creative manipulation of their growing patterns.
